“I’m standing here in Arizona, and we have reports that Andy Kaufman is alive and wants to make an announcement,” says a news reporter in a grey pants suit. “Here he comes now.” She turns to reveal a middle-class Southwestern home.

Out of an adobe home comes a man who certainly could be Andy in his 70s. His eyes gleam with a mix of fear and mischief and his straight brow has turned grey. “Hello,” he says, bowing a little.

“The country wants to know, is it really you?” She puts the microphone in his face.

He leans in, a little bemused. “Am I really me?”

“Yes. Are you really Andy Kaufman?”

He laughs. “I am Andy Kaufman, yes.”

“Was your death really just an elaborate prank?”

“Ohh!” he says. “Yes, I did pretend to die back in the 80s. Are people still talking about that?”

The reporter looks to her producers. “Um, well, everyone thought you were dead until this moment. The whole world is watching this.”

“Oh wow,” he says, putting his hands on his hips. “The whole world, huh? Do you want to see me dance?”

The reporter wants to be in on the joke. “Sure, Andy. Is this something you’ve been working on?”
