Hey Duncan. Thanks for reading.

I've been thinking a lot about this question today. Mostly because the answer is "it's in the article." But that felt a little snarky, and I don't want to come off that way, either.

The truth is, if I could sum it up for you easily, I would. The article is just an articulation of what it "felt" like to me to get into these states. If that's not useful to you, then the article probably just isn't for you.

If I could talk to myself 5 years ago, I would say a lot of what I said in this article, knowing it might or might not help. That's the thing about these states--they aren't conducive to explanation. At least not very easily.

Summing up the practical advice, it's nothing you haven't heard before. Do it a lot. Be consistent. Do it a lot over a short period of time. That, by the way, is not "untested." Many, many, people have benefits from retreats. That's why they exist.

The headline is a little bold. That's just what works on Medium. I did my best to pay it off. If that didn't happen for you, I apologize! I am learning as I go.

Again, thanks for reading and for taking the time to ask a question!
