Interesting article and happy to see more people talking about this. It's interesting the comments denying the oppression lens, and then diving right into various oppressions. Real or not, we can't go on as a species if we are always defining the negative. People obviously get a lot of personal power from victim narratives. The problem with that particular form of social capital is that it is inherently destructive.
