Writing Should Be Fun

I don’t know why I forgot that

I’m reaching the 1-year mark of when I started focusing on blogging on Medium. What a year.

I gained 5k followers. Neat. I also learned a lot about writing for an audience and a lot more about myself.

Lately, I’ve been struggling to sit down to write. My posts have trickled down to just a few a month.

One night, I realized that this was no longer fun.

That shouldn’t happen. Writing is my favorite thing to do.

Why I Write

The actual motivation that forces me to sit my ass in this chair and write these words for your eyeballs is…hard to pin down.

Sometimes I get confused and start to believe it’s for the little green bubble in the top left. Nope — that’s just a lil dopamine addiction.

I write for the same reason I talk — because I like to.

I like this feeling I’m having right now. I wanna tell you something. It feels important to say. My brain is working hard to make it as clear to you as possible.

I’m picturing you, scrolling down my words — how you’re feeling — what you’re hoping to see.

That’s when I’m writing for the right reasons.
